Charlie Kirk is dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that.
Since then there have been several more dramatic acts of violence. Some of them can be pinned on the left, and some of them can be pinned on the right. Some of them have been harder to pin and so have dropped out of the news cycle. As a result of each side focusing only on the ones they can use against their opponents, they are all missing the bigger picture.
It looks, to me, like the violence is accelerating.
I sometimes watch Tim Poole. Personally I feel he’s made his full point by about two-thirds of the way through his videos, but he’s still a good guy. He also, for the last several years, has been harping on an upcoming civil war.
I don’t think Trump is great or worst. I don’t think he is mega Hitler. Honestly, he’s a 1990’s New York City Democrat. He ran as a Republican because of this country’s two party system, but it was technically a third party run as he wasn’t a regular Republican. He ran on his own platform and reshaped a significant portion of the Republican Party.
What he did wrong is that he didn’t go through the normal process. To become President, a person must work their way up through various levels of politics until they become either a Senator or a Governor. By the time they reach those vaunted positions, they are so thoroughly compromised they won’t seriously change anything once in office. This goes for both big parties. Eisenhower was the allowable exception because he did climb to the top inside the government, albeit on a different pathway.
Trump didn’t do any of that, and the establishment hates him for that. The establishment in both parties. The establishment Republicans have to grit their teeth and pretend to get along with him for the sake of the party, and plan for retaking the party once Trump is out off office. Right now I’m quite disappointed at some decisions he’s made recently, but then I’ve learned never to expect much from anyone in office.
The Democrats have gone insane. There’s no other way to describe that. Democrats are the establishment. They have the greatest voice in government agencies, in universities, in media, and in entertainment. The Republicans are mostly establishment too, but pretend they aren’t. With the Democrats there is no pretending. Trump was clearly outside that establishment, and the establishment didn’t like it. Still, some of the positions they’ve taken in response to Trump are difficult to even comprehend.
While Trump may be more a symptom than a cause, it is clear that this intruder in the White House has had a huge impact on the political system, one it will take years for it to recover from. Or maybe Tim Poole is right and it will lead to Civil War.
The problem with war is that it doesn’t show who is right, it only shows who is stronger. There’s a joke about how history shows that the good guys have won every war throughout history. It is hard to determine what the sides will be, although I dearly hope it isn’t Republican establishment versus Democrat establishment. If it comes to war, that is what the established powers will want it to be.
Back to current events, because we’re not at the future yet. Current events say that violence is accelerating, and that’s a bad thing. Dehumanizing your opponents is a bad thing, because once they are no longer human you don’t have to treat them as human. Primitive tribes often had one word for human that was synonymous with the tribe, and another word for outsiders. That gave them leave to treat outsiders as they like. Call them barbarian, bule, dhkar, fangui, gadjo, gaijin, gentile, gringo, guizi, haole, mleccha, or call them bourgeoisie, woke, magats, it doesn’t matter. They’re no longer people, they no longer deserve any respect.
That’s the path we are on. Just look at some videos illustrating insane and evil reactions to Charlie Kirk’s death. I’m not going to repeat them, there’s no point. Go to Blair White’s channel to see her react to their reactions. She’s got more than one video of this, and you will see some very toxic people saying very toxic things.
Many people out there need to make a choice: admit and embrace that they are driving this country towards civil war, or stop dehumanizing their opponents.
